The Accrediting Bureaus of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
As a leader in health education accreditation for over 40 years, ABHES has been nationally recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a private, non-profit, independent accrediting agency since 1968. It has been at the forefront of advancing the quality of health education programs throughout the country.
ABHES enhances the quality of education and training and promotes institutional and programmatic accountability through systematic and consistent program evaluation. Its key is to assure the quality of the programs it accredits, and assist in the improvement of the programs. This quality-determination is accomplished by rigorous and systematic evaluation based on valid standards.
The goals of ABHES focus on three key areas: recognition, resources, and service; all of which it believes are essential and paramount to achieving its mission.

Note: Upon granting of initial accreditation by the ACEN Board of Commissioners, the effective date of initial accreditation is the date on which the nursing program was approved by the ACEN as a candidate program that concluded in the Board of Commissioners granting initial accreditation.
Practical Nursing Program

Standard Healthcare Services Inc. College of Nursing is approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing [VBON] for the Associate Degree in Nursing and Practical Nursing Diploma programs. The VBON regulates nursing education programs in Virginia that prepare students for initial licensure as a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.

The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) is the Commonwealth’s coordinating body for higher education. SCHEV was established by the Governor and General Assembly in 1956. SCHEV’s mission is “to promote the development of an educationally and economically sound, vigorous, progressive, and coordinated system of higher education” in Virginia.
Standard Healthcare Services Inc. College of Nursing is certified to operate by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) . SCHEV is a state regulatory agency responsible for monitoring higher education institutions in Virginia.
