Clinical Practicum III: Mental Health Nursing
This course is designed to provide the foundation for entry level competence in mental health nursing across the lifespan in the clinical setting. It provides for the acquisition and application of mental health nursing theory, incorporating communication, collaboration, caring, and clinical reasoning/clinical judgment necessary for safe, patient-centered nursing care to diverse patients experiencing common mental health conditions/disorders. It incorporates evidence-based practice, quality improvement, professional standards, and legal and ethical responsibilities of the nurse. Application of knowledge and skills occurs in the psychiatric clinical setting.
