DRESS CODE POLICY

CLASS /SKILLS LAB

The dress code for class lectures and skills lab is casual. Students must maintain a professional appearance.

CLINICAL

Students are expected to maintain a professional appearance while at the clinical settings. The approved Standard College student uniform must be worn in all clinical facilities when working as a student. Some variations may be necessary as students and faculty are required to follow regulations in each clinical agency. However, faculty must approve all variations prior to the initiation of each clinical practicum.

UNIFORM

  1. Students not dressed in proper clinical attire will be sent home and counted as absent. Uniforms are expected to be of the proper fit, in good repair, and free from wrinkles, odors and visible dirt.
  2. Only approved Standard College uniform shall be worn.
  3. A plain white or black undershirt may be worn under your uniform.
  4. A plain white long sleeve under shirt may be worn under your uniform during cold weather or to cover up tattoos.
  5. White shoes, closed toe and heel are the expected footwear. Tennis shoes must be predominately white. Plain white socks or hose will be worn.
  6. ID badges will be visible at all times, at the neck or chest level.

PERSONAL APPEARANCE

  1. Fingernails must be trimmed short. Only clear or very light color may be worn and must not be chipped. No artificial nails are allowed.
  2. Artificial Eye Lashes must look natural and short.
  3. Makeup should be natural looking with no extreme looks. Heavy perfumes/colognes are not permitted. Tattoos must be covered.
  4. Hair and body must be clean and free from odors. Hairstyle must be short or restrained in such a manner that when leaning forward it does not fall into the face. No extravagant hair accessories, colors or extreme hairstyles will be allowed. Facial hair must be neatly trimmed, close to the face.
  5. Appropriate jewelry only- one pair of earrings that are studs (no hoops or dangling items), a watch and one ring (must be flat –large stones are apt to scratch patients, harbor germs or become lost/damaged). No other visible piercings are allowed- other sites must be covered.
  6. The instructors and clinical site staff reserve the right to send a student home/back to school based on any violation of the dress/hygiene standards and the student will be counted absent.
