Graduation from the Practical Nursing Program
Enrolling in a program of study does not guarantee graduation. In order for a student to be eligible for graduation and to have his/her final transcript sent to the Board of Nursing, the student MUST:
Successfully complete the program by earning a grade of 79.50% or better in each course.
- Complete the required clinical hours and achieve a Pass in each clinical course.
- Demonstrate satisfactory attendance as evident by 90% attendance of each course.
- Meet all financial obligations.
A student’s final transcript will not be sent to the Board of Nursing unless the student has successfully satisfied the program completion requirements.
A student who has not met the program requirements may not participate in the graduation ceremony. The diploma and pin will be awarded when all requirements have been met.
The graduation date for a student who completes the program requirements after their cohort’s official completion date shall be changed to the next graduating cohort.
The registrar’s office shall submit documentation of program completion and completed transcripts for each graduate to the Board of Nursing as required in State Regulations. After ALL program requirements have been met, the graduate is eligible to file an application to take the NCLEX-PN for licensure in the state where the graduate intends to practice. Satisfactory completion of the NCLEX-PN qualifies the applicant to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state they applied for licensure in.
An applicant may be denied the right to take the NCLEX-PN in Virginia due to conviction of felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude, or for other reasons cited in Section 54.1-3007 of the Code of Virginia
Graduation from the LPN to RN Transition Program
Enrolling in a program of study does not guarantee graduation. In order for a student to be eligible for graduation and awarded an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing, the student MUST successfully satisfy the program completion requirements. These requirements consist of the following criteria:
Successfully complete the program by earning a grade of 50% or better in each course.
- Complete the required clinical hours and achieve a Pass in each clinical course.
- Demonstrate satisfactory attendance as evident by 90% attendance of each course.

RECOGNITION OF ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT
Honor Role
Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher shall graduate with honors.
Highest Honor Role (Valedictorian)
The valedictorian is the student with the highest cumulative GPA in each graduating class.
